Correcting Psoriasis Naturally
There are numerous natural measures which we can take to improve or eliminate psoriasis. The best way to get the best results is to start with a vegetarian, organic, high fiber, low fat diet void of allergenic foods, simple sugars, alcohol, and chemical contaminants. Drinking plenty of water daily also helps. A high potency multi-vitamin supplement taken with meals along with 50, 000 IU of beta-carotene per day and 3,000 mg or more of vitamin C. Your daily multi-mineral supplementation should include 15-40 mg per day of zinc in picolinate or methionate form. There should also be 200 mg of chromium and 200 mg of selenium taken daily. Often if digestion is weak taking supplemental betaine hydrochloride and digestive enzymes with protein meals can be helpful. Be careful not to take too much betaine hydrochloride or you might experience a heartburn sensation. If this occurs just drink some water or water and bicarbonate soda. Taking supplemental Lactobacillus acidophilus (friendly bacterial flora) can be helpful. Taking 10-12 grams of Omega-3 fatty acids or eating cold water fish which has a high content of this oil will be helpful. Taking one gram three times a day of an Omega-6 fatty acid like flaxseed, borage oil, or evening primrose oil can be of benefit.
Since the allergy and chemical contaminant element can be such a dominant influence it is wise to take special efforts in this area. Testing for biochemical reactivity to foods and things in our environment can be useful. Even before testing is done one can start by eliminating alcohol and tobacco from the list of chemical contaminants to which you are exposed. Replace toxic chemicals such as household cleaners with non-toxic natural products. When replacing dental fillings use less toxic alternatives rather than silver-mercury amalgams. HEPA air filtration systems can be used in the home or office if you suspect inhalants that are problematic.
Stress management is another important element to use in a comprehensive program for the correction of psoriasis. See our Stress Management Course.
